Expert Guidance for Historic Home Renovations

Preserving Character. Guiding Decisions. Honoring Craft.

Historic homes hold memory—in the grain of old-growth wood, in hand-forged hardware, in plaster walls that have absorbed generations of living. These details aren't just aesthetic. They're what make your house irreplaceable. But preservation doesn't mean paralysis. I help homeowners honor the bones while creating space for modern life—making thoughtful decisions that respect both history and function.

Every Renovation Decision feels like a Gamble.

Every Renovation Decision Feels Like a Gamble

You bought a home with history, character, and irreplaceable craftsmanship. But now you're facing decisions that keep you up at night:

Will this paint color destroy the period authenticity?

Where do I find crown molding that actually matches 1920s profiles?

How do I modernize the kitchen without ruining the home's character?

Why is every contractor quoting me for a gut renovation when I want restoration?

You don't need another designer trying to sell you a full-service package. You need an expert who understands historic architecture, respects original materials, and can give you clear direction without taking over your entire project.

That's exactly what Wallspring Design House does.

about wallspring design house

Hello, there!

I'm Meagan, the designer and founder behind Wallspring Design House. As a licensed interior designer, certified project manager, and real estate investor, I've spent 20+ years restoring historic homes across Middle Tennessee. I specialize exclusively in advisory design for historic and character-driven homes—providing expert guidance without the full-service price tag or loss of creative control.

I'm not just a consultant. I'm living it. Right now, my family and I are actively restoring Wallspring Estate, our 1827 Federal/Italianate style home in Gallatin, Tennessee—and I always have a historic flip project underway. Every decision I guide you through, I've made myself. Every mistake I help you avoid, I've learned firsthand.

Wallspring Estate serves as our family home, my design studio, and living proof that historic homes can be both beautiful and functional for modern life.

OUR PROCESS

HOW MEAGAN WORKS:

Visioning & Strategy, Not Full-Service Design

Wallspring Design House is a visioning and strategy studio for historic and character-driven homes. I don't manage contractors, place orders, or oversee construction.

Instead, I help you clarify your vision, make confident decisions, and create a clear design direction you can execute with your own team.

Think of me as your strategic design partner—the expert who helps you see what's possible, understand what to preserve, and know exactly what to do next.

TESTIMONIALS

What Historic Home Owners are Saying

"Wallspring Design House saved us from making a $15,000 mistake."

We were about to paint our 1912 Foursquare in trendy gray. Meagan showed us why that would have destroyed the home's Arts & Crafts character and helped us choose period-appropriate colors that made the architectural details pop. Best $500 we spent on the entire renovation."

— Sarah M., 1912 Foursquare, Louisville, KY

"Finally, a designer who gets historic homes."

"Every other designer wanted to gut our kitchen and 'open it up.' Meagan helped us modernize while keeping the original layout, cabinetry, and character intact. Neighbors stop by constantly to ask who did our renovation."

— James & Patricia L., 1895 Victorian, Chattanooga, TN

"We went from paralyzed to confident in one afternoon."

"We'd been stuck for six months, afraid to make the wrong choice. After our Historic Home Designer for a Day session, we had a clear plan, material sources, and the confidence to move forward. Our contractor even said it was the most organized renovation he'd worked on."

— Michael T., 1928 Tudor Revival, Franklin, TN
